What's New

SilverLining Partners LLC received recent notification from the Department of Veterans Affairs that SilverLining Partners has been validated and added to the verified Veteran business database at www.vetbiz.gov. This recognition will allow SilverLining to participate in Veterans First Contract Program opportunities with the VA.

SilverLining Partners was selected in March 2009 as a supplier of computer based training services to Electric Boat of Groton, CT a division of General Dynamics.

SilverLining Partners is proud to be a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin as one of 6 Primes on the Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC) Contract awarded in August of 2008.  The value of the contract award to Lockheed was $35M over 5 years.

Custom Software Solution Practice

SilverLining Partners has experience in the reverse engineering of existing databases (with one major project that involved almost 2 million data records) resulting in the creation of the necessary and relevant schema needed for the application.

  • This knowledge was used in the construction of an elegant design that enabled ETL tools to consistently extract and transform the data in a way the original schema had not been designed to do.

  • This permitted the creation of meaningful, flexible reports that allowed the mining of data in a time effective, targeted means and improved performance over the existing report generation times by 10 fold.

The value is that our clients are able to use their existing program vs. replacing it with a more expensive alternative which greatly improves the project ROI and allows them to internalize the generation of reports and quality verifications needed for daily operations.  All of our project work required a data staging, error correction, formatting adjustments and normalization of the data before final tables could be constructed. The early steps are essential to reliably extract data, create custom, meaningful reports and to enable proactive action with the resultant data.

For our broad project design, we used a two stage approach:

  • The first stage of our methodology involved assessing the requirements that defined how we were going to extract the data from different source systems. The ending application required the conversion of the data into a format for transformation processing. An intrinsic part of our extraction efforts involved the parsing of extracted data, resulting in a check if the data met an expected pattern or structure.
  • The next stage, transformation, applied a series of rules and functions to the extracted data from the source to shape the data for creating the final file format or report. The original design constraints in the database schema required atypical engineering design achievements to meet the project end goals (which were not directly achievable with standard query tools).

This approach has been found to be successful for clients in the high volume weapons manufacturing and the pharmaceutical research sector

Since all of our clients are familiar with Microsoft Excel, we have a preference in creating Excel front ends to SQL databases to facilitate broader user acceptance. We also have experience with various middleware options to connect Excel to SQL databases that allow better performance and quicker development of the applications.
